October 25, 2017

  • Abengoa introduces Health and Safety Day on October 25.
  • All company employees around the world have been able to take part in events organized at all offices and work centers. Gonzalo Urquijo, the Chairman of Abengoa, presided over the session at the company headquarters in Seville, where Health and Safety was given priority status in company management.

October 25, 2017 – Abengoa (MCE: ABG/P:SM), the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the infrastructures, energy and water sectors, has celebrated its first Health and Safety Event in all of the countries where the company is present, to mark the celebration of the European Week for Safety and Health at Work.

The event aims to raise awareness and promote a culture of prevention in this area, given that it is a company priority. The Chairman of Abengoa, Gonzalo Urquijo, stated in his discourse at the event held at Campus Palmas Altas in Seville, “The first and most important thing at Abengoa is people, and our goal is Zero Accidents. Therefore, the company’s commitment to the health and safety of all employees, and those who collaborate with us, is paramount. Today is one of the most important days for Abengoa”.

The event included, depending on the country and work center (totaling more than 70), the participation of different H&S directors and specialists who analyzed indicators and reminded those in attendance of the five pillars that make up Abengoa’s Health and Safety Policy namely, integration, leadership, training, continuous improvement and legality.

Furthermore, the major milestones that the company has reached in recent months were highlighted, such as the 1,000 days worked without a lost time accident at the solar platforms in Extremadura, Ecija and Morocco, passing the 4-million-hour mark without a lost time accident at the WAS Project in Saudi Arabia, and the recent accession to the Luxembourg Declaration, all of which is further evidence of Abengoa’s commitment to integrating and promoting the basic principles of health at work.

Last of all, Abengoa recognized the work and efforts on the part of employees and suppliers as they applied good practices in the performance of their duties. At Abengoa’s head office, José Alberto Murillo Fernández, engineer and project director, received this recognition along with the entire maintenance team at Campus Palmas Altas.

The work performed in the area of safety by the following suppliers was also highlighted: Soluciones Integrales de Andalucía S.L.U (Soinan), Ecilimp S.L., Tamoin S.L.U. and Dominion Industry &  Infrastructures S.L (Dominion).
